Seize It

A man once told me

That things don’t get better

They just get worse

That man couldn’t have been

At peace with himself

He couldn’t have experienced love

Or lust

Or the first glass of wine on a Sunday evening

The taste of gin licked

Off a beautiful woman’s breast

Or listened to Tom Waits on vinyl

In the middle of the night

He couldn’t have explored his darkest desires

Or spent the night entangled with someone

Who wanted to taste

Every inch of his body

I pity that man

The man who wouldn’t grab

Himself by the balls

And force himself to accept

Who he is

Or was

He was content to just fester

He didn’t want

To have it all
